Job-related matters -- and in broader terms, your overall function and reputation in the world at large -- have been a major focus of your life for the past couple of years, and they continue largely in the forefront during 2017. Slow-moving Saturn spends the year transiting Sagittarius, your 10th solar house, a transit which began in early 2015. This Saturn transit shows a period in your life which is challenging, but which can also end up being extremely rewarding.
Saturn is a symbol of restriction and consolidation, but also of pragmatism and material success. Transiting the 10th solar house, it shows a time when your worldly responsibilities have probably increased tremendously. But if you are able to fulfill those responsibilities, you not only grow as a person, but you reap very tangible rewards as well.
This is a very success-oriented transit. But Saturn always reminds you that success does not come for free. It requires a great deal of work, perseverance, and effort. But if you are up to the task, Saturn will always reward you.
The other longer-term trend unfolding this year is Jupiter's transit through Libra, your 8th solar house, which began in the fall of 2016 and which continues through mid-October. This transit shows a time when the resources of your partners become accessible to you -- when you can combine their assets with your own in order to pursue a common goal. The "assets" we are talking about here can be of any type: money, skills or abilities, time, etc. The underlying theme here is that by joining with another person in a partnership, you're able to become more than what either of you is individually.
This ability can become a double-edged sword, however, if you don't use it properly. The simplest example of this is financial debt. You can borrow someone else's money in order to purchase something you couldn't afford on your own. But if you fail to pay back that money on time, you will end up in a worse position than where you began.
The negative side of this transit may emerge most clearly from February-June, as Jupiter retrogrades in Libra. If you've overreached yourself in some area of shared partnership resources (and have perhaps been postponing the day of reckoning), this is the period when you will have to face the consequences. March and early April are a particularly sensitive time in terms of financial matters, as Venus retrogrades in Aries, your 2nd solar house, and shows a period when financial obligations you've assumed may prove to be a bit more difficult to live up to than you'd anticipated. If this is the case, take action now to restructure and fix things. Delaying will only make matters worse.
Domestic matters move to the forefront in May and early June, as Mars transits Gemini, your 4th solar house, and opposes Saturn in Sagittarius. Job or other outside responsibilities come into conflict with your home life, with each one holding you back in some way from complete fulfillment in the other. Recognize that some sacrifices will be necessary, and try to juggle affairs as best you can.
Mid-June through mid-September sees your overall progress gradually but steadily increasing. Mars transits Cancer and Leo, your 5th and 6th solar houses, respectively, showing a time of increased self-expression (and just plain old fun!). You may well be able to put some personal talents to practical use. Jupiter and Saturn both conclude their retrograde periods during this time (Jupiter in June, Saturn in August), giving an additional boost to your advance. Nagging issues in many areas that you may have been dealing with for much of the year now get resolved, removing a number of barriers from your path.
The last few months of the year bring you even more out into the public eye, and allow you to put the finishing touches on major projects. Mars transits Virgo, your 7th solar house, from early September through mid-October, bringing one-to-one partnerships back into prominence. Mars then moves into Libra, your 8th solar house, through mid-December, allowing you to tie up any still-dangling loose ends related to shared resources. At this same time, Jupiter is moving into Scorpio, your 9th solar house, another indication of a conclusion in the area of shared resources, and the beginning of a year-long phase of expansion based on utilizing these resources in effective ways.
