For Leos, the major underlying theme during 2017 is marked by Saturn's slow transit through Sagittarius, your 5th solar house. Saturn first entered Sagittarius in early 2015, and it finally leaves the sign in December of 2017. This nearly three-year transit shows a strong process of maturing in your life -- a time when you grow as an individual who is achieving a new level of wisdom and experience. Regardless of your chronological age, you can tell that you've taken a major step forward over the past couple of years. You feel stronger and more secure in your own self, with less need to rely on others and a much more powerful sense of inner focus and individual purpose.
This process draws to its conclusion over the course of 2017; and although it is still ongoing as the year begins, you are already recognizing the important changes that have taken place in your awareness and your attitudes. You are much less likely to let other people, or external circumstances, throw you for a loop, for example. You are calm and decisive under pressure. And in many new and important ways, you "know your own heart" much better than ever, and you can therefore chart your own course through life regardless of other people's opinions or criticisms.
Leo is a fixed fire sign, and this Saturn transit can be described as strongly emphasizing the "fixed" -- mature, steady, persistent, unflappable -- over the "fire" -- impulsive, creative, spontaneous, emotional. You still have plenty of fire in you, of course. But this Saturn transit, forming a harmonious trine aspect to your natal Sun, teaches you how to guide, direct, and control those fiery qualities in practical and effective ways. You are still you, only better -- able to take the life-force you feel inside of you and manifest it far more effectively in the world at large.
With this process of increasing maturity and effectiveness as a backdrop, much of 2017 tends to focus on the work you do in the world around you -- either in terms of your job or career, or in terms of some other social or cultural activity through which you contribute to, and gain recognition from, the world at large. From late January through early June, Mars transits through Aries, Taurus, and Gemini, your 9th, 10th, and 11th solar houses, respectively. This transit shows a period of expressing yourself very strongly in the world around you. You may be called on to assume a leadership role of some sort, particularly from mid-March to late April, as Mars transits Taurus. This position could be challenging, and quite possibly something you would have shirked from before. But with your new level of Saturn-related maturity and understanding, you are ready to accept the new challenge and whatever responsibilities it entails.
Venus's retrograde during this same period (March-April) shows a time of re-evaluation. Your new responsibilities may temporarily throw you for a loop or require you to make some changes in your life. Use this time to make sure that your actions truly align with your inner priorities. Then as Venus resumes its forward motion in mid-April, events can progress smoothly into and through the summer months.
Late July through early September, as Mars transits your Sun sign, brings a new burst of energy and what you will feel are an abundance of possibilities and opportunities. Definitely take the initiative here and get new projects off the ground. But at the same time, be aware that even you have limitations -- your physical body can only take so much. So use common sense and don't overdo it.
Money matters move to center stage during September and October. Recent initiatives begin to bear fruit financially, but new outflows of money can also develop. Cash flow management is particularly important now so that you don't unwittingly dig yourself into a hole.
The final two months of the year are relatively calm -- a time when you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labors. They are likely to have left you in a better position individually, as well as in a more-respected position in society. Take stock of how you got to where you are now, and consider how you can use those same qualities to move into your future.
